Features
Delimixx Free is the full CSV / TSV editor. Delimixx Pro adds tools for heavier data work. Items with a — in the Free column need a Pro license; they are part of the full build, not of the free prototype build.
Your file, untouched
Byte-for-byte saving
Open and save without editing, and the file is written back unchanged (this holds with Save format on, the default; with the default quote settings and no per-column quote rules; and with the encoding, delimiter, BOM and line endings unchanged).
What an edit changes
After an edit the file is written again as a whole. Encoding, BOM, line endings and the final newline are kept. Unneeded quotes, empty quotes "" and blank lines are tidied; no value is lost. Turn Save format off to always normalize on save.
Sidecar file
Column widths, hidden rows and columns, comments and rules go into <file>.cvdeco next to the CSV. You can turn the sidecar off in the settings.
Backup before saving
A backup goes into a .delimixx-backups folder next to the file (5 generations by default), or into one central folder you choose. Old backups can be deleted automatically after 7 to 365 days; the newest is always kept.
External changes
Delimixx notices when another program changes the open file, and can reload it like tail. Read-only mode protects files you only want to look at.
SHA-256 display
Show the SHA-256 hash of a file to check that it has not changed.
Reading all kinds of files
- Encodings: UTF-8, UTF-8 with BOM, UTF-16, Shift-JIS, EUC-JP, JIS (ISO-2022-JP). Automatic detection, and "reopen with encoding".
- Delimiters: comma, tab, semicolon and pipe, detected automatically or chosen by hand.
- Quote settings on save.
- Multiple files in tabs. Drag files onto the window to open them.
- Structure check: finds rows whose number of columns does not match; Rainbow column colors show where the columns drift.
- The whole file is loaded into memory (it needs much more memory than the file size). Before opening a very large file, Delimixx estimates the memory needed and asks you to confirm.
Editing
- Cell editing, insert and delete rows, cut / copy / paste, undo and redo (100 steps by default; 20 to 1,000 in the settings).
- Excel-style quick-entry shortcuts, simple in-cell formulas, cell autocomplete from the same column.
- Autofill by dragging the fill handle; paste transposed (swap rows and columns).
- Find and replace; sort by one column; filter by one column.
- Text normalization: trim, whitespace, control characters, full-width / half-width, letter case.
- Split view, freeze rows and columns, hide and unhide, header row toggle, zoom from 50% to 200%.
- Command palette with fuzzy search; keyboard shortcut remapping and presets.
- Appearance: automatic, light or dark; interface text in three sizes; an accent colour (six presets or any colour); limits for tab width, and tabs in several rows.
- Feature panels open in a dock on the right, from an activity bar.

Privacy and trust
- Your files and how you use Delimixx are never sent anywhere. There is no telemetry.
- Free makes no connection unless you turn on the update check or press Check for updates; then it asks whether a newer version exists and tells you, and program downloads stay manual. Once Pro is on sale, a valid Pro key also downloads a small signed list of revoked license keys about every 7 days. A subscription key that has passed its expiry date looks for a renewed key for 14 days, sending only the key's identifier; one-time licenses never do.
- Error messages end with a stable code, and the regular log never contains file names or cell content (the optional detailed log, started with
--debug, may include file names, so check it before you post it). See Error codes. - Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Languages and platform
- The interface is available in English and Japanese. It starts in English and can be switched to 日本語 at any time, on the welcome notice or in the settings. Logs are in English; error messages follow the interface language.
- Windows 11 (64-bit). There are no macOS or Linux builds.
